WE’RE NOT FROM HERE

This original television series explores the origin of the creative voice and - ultimately- humanity itself. An experimental theater company leaves New York to produce their dream immersive show in a small town airport hangar, but their creation unknowingly accesses an otherworldly frequency determined to get a message to Earth.

In addition to the narrative of the series, the show-within-a-show unfolds concurrently with each new episode revealing the next scene in their theater show. The driving mysteries surrounding the small town and its history of strange disappearances begin to echo through the show they are producing in the hangar - as do the supernatural events that become undeniable as the series progresses.

Their multimedia theater is its own compelling, fully developed theatrical production intended for presentation as a live experience for fans of the series. We created this witty, supernatural mystery-drama as a true merger of theater and film.

DR. VALENTINE & THE HEART OF THE GOLDEN VESSEL

The show-within-a-show built into the We’re Not From Here series, this fully developed multimedia show has been created to also stand alone as a live theater production. Built for a 360° projection environment, the story centers on a swash-buckling amnesiac explorer (Dr. Valentine) from a future where the historical record has been lost. He finds himself on a journey across time in an attempt to rediscover the history of humanity. Along the way, he discovers his own surprising identity.

His spherical Golden Machine flies across the theater space on each of his journeys. As he is transported across time from prehistory to ancient Sumer, the Aztec empire, Weimar Berlin, and even Studio 54, he encounters a beautiful, timeless Golden Woman who helps him retrieve mesmerizing, glowing crystals embedded within each new location. Along the way, he begins to fall for the Golden Woman, but the mystery of her identity and purpose - as well as the crystals - is not revealed until its climactic conclusion.

Dr. Valentine & the Heart of the Golden Vessel is an immersive, multimedia production with a suspenseful and engaging narrative, original cinematic score and overwhelming visuals. We created this piece to fully harness the capabilities of emerging technology to tell a meaningful story about who we are as humans in the universe.

UNDERSCORE

UNDERSCORE

Underscore is a hybrid music/film project featuring multi-hyphenate performer Joey Defore in a style we describe as “cinematic pop.” Each of the songs on this undeniably catchy EP underscores an accompanying musical short film. Stylistically, these films fuse theater, film, installation art, experimental performance and technology. The songs and films all exist in the same universe and follow an underlying theme of self-discovery.

APSIS REQUIEM

Apsis Requiem is an immersive cinematic theatrical production exploring the concept of grief in community through a spectacle-driven narrative work blending theater, music and film. The plot centers on a writer dealing with the recent loss of his wife and young son by throwing himself into a fantasy story following the stages of grief. The story-within-the-show comes alive in wildly theatrical fashion and becomes a vessel through which the protagonist can explore the depths of his emotions. Meanwhile, the staged action alternates between his imagined adventure and the stark reality of the world around him - while also revealing the complexity of his journey through filmed memories which are embedded into the score and story.

Like the process of grief itself, the cinematic score weaves between intense orchestral drama and intimate, haunting pop melodies. Larger-than-life choral sections incorporate the text of the traditional Latin Requiem into the fantasy narrative chapters as a contemporary homage to the genre. The production has been developed to access the spectrum of the human experience through a push-and-pull between sensory overload and contemplative, meditative moments. The compelling and mystery-driven narrative is engages the mind while creating intentional space for human connection - to each other and to ourselves.
